Not Just for Arms
Sofa was usually designed as a piece of furniture for people to sit in, to recline and to relax. Armrest and backrest typically function only as somewhere upon which the users rest their arms or backs. What if there is a sofa of generous proportion that people can have their belongings (bags, books, files, snacks or even pets) placed in the same seat, or sit with their feet up, while the armrests and top of backrests are inviting enough for others wanting to lean over or to sit down for a casual chat.
It will then become more than a seat but a magnet that draw people together for exchanges or impromptu discussions. Dumbbell was designed to facilitate this kind of work-social culture in contemporary offices.¡±
